Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed Florida legislation that would have increased the bankruptcy exemption amount for motor vehicles, according to FloridaPolitics.com. Florida is an “opt-out” state that allows individuals to utilize Florida exemptions in bankruptcy. The current Florida vehicle exemption is $1,000. The proposed legislation would have increased the vehicle exemption from $1,000 to $5,000.
